Kolkata-based IT education and enterprise, Globsyn Group has announced the launch of Globsyn skills, its joint venture with the Corporation for National Skill Development (NSDC). Skills Globsyn has a mandate to train half a million young people.

Skills Globsyn just recognized more than 2,000 students from 70 engineering colleges including IIT Kharagpur, for the first group of the training program of six weeks. Training will cover various topics such as Java, Dot Net, Oracle and J2EE.

"All the training areas were selected based on market demand to ensure that students are ready to be absorbed by the industry," says Globsyn Group President and CEO of Bikram Dasgupta.

Skills Globsyn plans to train about 10,000 students in March 2012. Another 35,000 young people to be trained by 2012-13. It will provide skill development training in areas such as IT, ITES, KPO, healthcare and hospitality.

As NSDC has a 27% Globsyn skills, most of the 73% balance is to Globsyn Group. The joint venture had announced plans to establish five training centers across West Bengal.

It is recalled that the 2011-12 Union budget had been allocated additional funding of Rs 500 crore of NSDC to improve the availability of skilled manpower for industry. The NSDC is expected to create 15 million rupees skilled two years before its target date of 2022.
