Rural BPO Centre:Wipro's first rural BPO centre comes in Tamil Nadu

It opens with a pilot project for 50 seats on an international client in the retail sector

The BPO arm of Wipro Technologies, Wipro BPO has opened its first center in rural backoffice Manjakkudi in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Manjakkudi center has a capacity of 120 beds and will open with a 50-seat pilot project for a international client in the retail sector.

Wipro plans to expand its rural BPO operations of 500 seats in March 2013 in Tamil Nadu, and to replicate this model of BPO through other states of India in the near future.

The company has collaborated with the public trust Charitable Trust Swami Dayananda Education for Manjakkudi center.

Based on the "back office to back-office (BOBO) outsourcing model, the center aims to explore the literacy talent available in the region.

Graduate students between the age group 21 to 25 will be employed in Wipro BPO Manjakkudi center, offering a wide range of services to clients in all industry sectors.

Wipro said the center will have an entire IT infrastructure and physical and will be compatible with the standard of safety and regulatory requirements.

Wipro BPO provides the mainland coast, close to the sea and hybrid delivery options in more than 28 centers in 11 countries.
