property tax return online Website down for last 15 days

South Delhi residents unable to file property tax online, Website down for last 15 days:

While the corporations are yet to make their website operational with updated information, residents of South corporation are facing another inconvenience - the online services concerned with property tax has been down since the past 15 days.

Those who tried to fill property tax return forms online came across a message stating that services have been shut down for maintenance.

Sushil Malik, a resident of Lajpat Nagar, has been trying to access the website for past one week and was disappointed every time he logged in.

“The website says services are shut down and will be restored soon. But it does not mention how soon,” he said.

According to the IT department officials, the website has been shut down as upgradation in tax slabs and categories are to be made.

“We have to reconcile the data on the website to make it relevant to tax payer for financial year 2012-13. There are certain changes that we have made in categories and that will also be amended and updated soon,” the official said.

The official said this has been a usual practice — the reconciliation is carried out every year after the new slabs are announced.

Farhad Suri, Leader of the Opposition, South corporation, said the website is upgraded only after June 30. “The last date for filing property tax return is June 30 and tax payers can avail a 15 per cent rebate if they pay before this date. It is only after June 30 that the website is shutfor three to seven days.

To my knowledge, this year, this site has been shut for past 15 days in April itself, which shows the incompetence of the department. This is a time when people would be filing their returns to gain 2 per cent rebate, over and above the 15 per cent rebate, for filing their returns online. They have already lost 15 days,” he said.

According to the officials the site will be running by Wednesday. “There were certain difficulties like standardising the tax system of all corporations and we have been figuring this out. The site will be running soon,” an IT department official said.

Singapore IRAS tax filing rate, Individual tax filing rate in Singapore

95% Tax payers filed on time in Singapore:

The IRAS (Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore) has reported that, by April 18, the individual tax filing rate in Singapore was at a record high of 95% in this year's tax season, compared to 94% in 2012.

IRAS said that it is pleased that more taxpayers are now filing on time. About 900,000 taxpayers had e-Filed their tax returns by April 18, plus 27,000 who had filed paper returns and 1.13m who were on the No-Filing Service (NFS) this year.

Assistant Commissioner, Taxpayer Services Division, Wang Teck Leng said: "We make it convenient for taxpayers to fulfill their filing obligations. Besides the NFS that made filing a non-event for more than one million taxpayers this year, we had e-Filing service centers located island-wide, and many online channels for taxpayers to self-help."

The IRAS reminded taxpayers who have not filed their tax returns to do so immediately, as a late filing penalty of up to SGD1,000 (USD808) will be imposed for late filing. Taxpayers will receive their Notices of Assessment from May onwards, and payment is due within 30 days from its date.

Under the Auto-Inclusion Scheme (AIS) for employment income, employers with 15 or more employees are required to send the salary information of their employees to IRAS electronically. Taxpayers whose employers participate in the AIS do not have to enter their salary information manually when they file their returns.

Over the next two years, IRAS intends to extend the AIS to employers with 12 or more employees. This means by 2015, another 100,000 taxpayers will join the existing 1.3m employees who are already on the scheme, and enjoy the convenience of a simple tax filing process.

The continued expansion of the AIS will enable IRAS to extend the benefits of the NFS to an even larger group of taxpayers in the future. Those who are eligible for the NFS will not need to file their tax returns unless they have additional income to declare or changes to make to their personal reliefs.

Now Aadhar card as address proof for pan card, To get pan card AaDhaar Card is Valid as address proof

The exclusive Identification (UID) Aadhaar number will soon be a legitimate" verification of persona and address to obtain a PAN card.

A proposal for addition of Aadhaar in the living list of legitimate verification of identification and verification of address for allotment of pot was dispatched to the finance ministry by the exclusive Identification administration of India sometime back.

The ministry has determined to notify rules in this consider. It is directed at curbing the menace of false or replicate PAN cards which are allotted by I-T department to taxpayers.

"Once Aadhaar is accepted as a legitimate verification for obtaining pot, the I-T department would be adept to weed out the menace of false, forging or duplication of pot cards.

"The amalgamation of the databases is in full sway and the ministry would shortly notify the directions in this regard," a older finance ministry official said.

The ministry, through the earnings levy department, has currently incorporated more than 1.75 lakh Aadhaar figures in its database since it notified a new form 49A for getting pot last year.

It has been employed for nearly three years on the design of conceiving a biometric database of taxpayers which it will now accomplish by incorporating the Aadhaar data which has been taken on similar lines.

Till now, a variety of documents, like voter ID business card, identification, driving permit and articles of owning or leasing a property were utilised as a proof to get the enduring Account Number (PAN).

The ministry had last year brought out a new PAN submission form-- 49A for use of Indian people, companies and entities incorporated in the homeland which permits a applicant to mention his or her Aadhaar number.

The investment ministry, which had first mooted the suggestion of developing and handing out biometric pot in 2006, had kept the conclusion pending for one time as it was sensed that both the agencies (UIDAI and I-T) would be "duplicating the effort" to come to a widespread goal -- biometrics-based persona.

In 2006, the ministry had suggested that the biometric PAN cards would have the I-T assesses' fingerprints (two from each hand) and the face. This will now be achieved by collating the Aadhaar database with that of the pot.

According to latest data (till December last), more than 16.49 crore PAN cards have been handed out in the homeland.

The I-T department, in a number of cases, has unearthed a number of individuals owning multiple pot cards or forging the minutia to evade levies and conceive 'benami' properties.
